The sample board with only five things

By Home décor · myAudience

AI-generated fictional interior illustration: Five unbranded material samples of cream paint, oak, olive linen, charcoal wool and a rust accent on a worktable. Not a photograph of a real home.

A sample board works best when it contains the materials that must live together. You do not need to collect every appealing colour you find.

Put a flooring reference, main textile, wall sample, timber sample and one accent beside each other. Label them in your own notes outside the photograph. Look for the relationship that feels strongest and remove any sample that has no intended job.

View real samples in the room’s daylight and evening light. A board helps you compare; it does not certify adhesion, durability or suitability. Keep the supplier’s exact references so the useful experiment can become an accurate decision later.
